![]() ![]() ALSO, search for any word you can think of that might be in the description. ![]() You can also exclude keywords, and perform other boolean searches using key commands. Search for Hybrid and Tense and you now have a list of about 40-50 sounds. Typing in Hybrid will yield way too many results. For example you can combine search terms with the word and. As soon as you find patches that fit that category add them to the corresponding project right away, before the patch goes missing in a sea of thousands of presets.Īnd while there is a lot of fluff in the factory patches, there's also plenty of useful stuff you have to use the search feature, and know how to use it. My advice would be to create a project for each sound type you use often and think of it as a collection of those sounds. I always use saparate instances to have better general control over my tracks and the freeze-function etc.Click to expand. You also have Projects. In case of Omnisphere 2.03d: 10 instances x 120 MB = 1200 MB of RAM 10 x 40 MB = 400 MB of RAM In case of Omnisphere 1.58d: 10 instances x 80 MB = 800 MB of RAM 10 x 23 MB = 230 MB of RAMī. 10 or more, well you know what the result is:Ī. As I said: Nothing changes in the sourcecode, but you have a significantly smaller DLL! If you are using separate instances of Omnisphere and have e.g. If there is any interest, I will share the smaller DLLs (1.58d and 2.03d) on AUDIOZ. Of course you use a programm like RESTORATOR 2007 to exract and re-assign the PNGs to the DLL(s). The result is: you have an Omnisphere.dll with around 33 % of its original size, only by "reducing" the PNG-size using the Photoshop (CC) standard-PNG-format (I cannot find any difference in the quality of the resaved grafics - NONE!). FACT 3: The original DLLs are extremely big (80 MB in case of 1.58d and 120 MB in case of 2.03d), but only because Spectrasonics uses ultra-big PNG-graphics which are NOT NEEDED! I am able to resize the DLLs to around 23 MB (1.58d) and 40 MB (2.03d) without touching the code of the DLLs by using Photoshop´s automation function, simply by opening all PNGs (555 in case of 1.58d, 726 in case of 2.03d) and resaving them with the standard Photoshop-PNG-format (nothing is tweaked or changed). Depending on what you want to use, you simply change the STEAM-link ("C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\STEAM.lnk" => STEAM.lnk has to point to the actual STEAM-folder) and make the unwanted dll (Omnisphere 1.58d or Omnisphere 2.03d) inactive (by renaming it to e.g. But you can copy the content of Omnisphere 2 into a different folder a let your Omnisphere 1 content untouched. FACT 2: You can not run Omni 1 and 2 in parallel mode because they share the same STEAM-link-convention. As I said: Everything omnisphere.dll needs to know is where the STEAM-folder is this is done by placing a link to the path and in the folder I mentioned above. FACT 1: An installation of the content is absolutely not needed for the content if the sourcefiles would be available as DLLs an installation wouldn´t be essential either. in Windows one additional "thing" is needed: a link in "C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics" where you have to place a "STEAM.lnk" to the exact path of your respective STEAM-folder (you can change the path manually however you what if you move your STEAM-folder). you install the sourcefiles (dll => most would/will need the 64 bit version only) anywhere you want.Ĭ. you copy every STEAM-folder manually from every DVD (iso) to your fav. No need to install the content on Windows (7) machines, it is exactly the same as with Omnisphere 1 (last revision of the dll was 1.58d):Ī. If a CD/DVD (iso) is not mountable than it´s is normally corrupt.Ģ. On the other side, i totally understand why other ppl love itĬlick to expand.1. I try to stay minimal, and it is difficult enough Too much features, patches, sample content. I think it is, once again, a synth with so much possibilities most ppl just scratch 10%. If i started to learn it, i would barely understand it.and need to learn again new features. I prefer some fine tuned pure Kontakt libs for raw sounds, and "dumb" synths for the rest. To make it short : i tried V1 and was bored. And don't tell me a synth with 60+GB and 12,000+ patches is not made for that To me, Omnisphere is in a kind of modern plugin workstation spirit : do a LOT, but i don't find a special thing to most patches. And so, i can search for hours finding THE patch i need. Too many patches in Omnisphere, even with tags and classification.there are too much things on one side, and less on the other (ex : you need Trilian for bass, and not so convinced by EDM, because i'm more industrial/drum n bass ) Spire,Serum,Dune and such for "regular" synthesis Kontakt for symphonic work (Symphobia and such), world (Ethno World.), Pan Drum, System 1000. On my side, i prefer to use separate synths. ![]()
